What’s With The Honey, Honey?

Honey might seem like a strange addition to this recipe, but hear us out! The peanuts, combined with sea salt, make for a deliciously salty spread, but balance is key. The honey adds a naturally sweet element to the final mixture, without taking away from the savory goodness. If you really don’t like sweet food (say what!?) then feel free to leave the honey out.

You know the drill. Take your favorite sliced bread, add a layer of butter, some strawberry jelly, and a slathering of Infused Peanut Butter and HELLO nostalgia. If you’re feeling wild (ahem, got the munchies), try frying your sandwich in a pan, so the peanut butter gets all oozy and gooey. Just don’t burn your mouth!

Now for the recipe…
Infused Peanut Butter
Approx 1 ¼ cups or 20 tbsp
3 hours 5 minutes
With this recipe for Infused Peanut Butter, we’ve taken the memory of all those times spent diving into the jar of peanuty goodness, and amped the experience up a notch… by adding flower to the mix.
Fresh or coarsely ground flower
2 cups vegetable oil (we like extra virgin olive oil, but you can use grapeseed as well)
2 cups unsalted dry roasted peanuts
½ tsp sea salt
2 tsp honey
3 tsp infused vegetable oil
Fill LĒVO Herb pod with flower.
Set LĒVO to the default Activate setting at 240°F for 30 minutes.
Pour your choice of vegetable oil into the LĒVO reservoir. Set LĒVO to 160-175°F and Infuse for 3 hours.
Once the Infuse cycle is complete, dispense into an air-tight glass container. Set aside 3 tsp of flower-infused oil for this recipe.
Do you like your peanut butter with a crunchy texture? If you’re a silky smooth fan, continue straight to step two, but if crunchy’s your thing, add ⅓ cup of peanuts to a food processor. Pulse up to 8 times or until the peanuts are chopped into small pieces. Transfer the chopped peanuts to a bowl and set aside for later!
Add the remainder of the dry roasted peanuts, or all of them if you’ve skipped step one, to a food processor and process for 1 minute. Scrape the sides of the bowl with a rubber spatula and process again for another minute. Keep doing this process of pulsing and scraping the sides until you have a shiny and smooth texture.
Add salt, honey and Infused vegetable oil and process again until the texture is glossy.
If you’re adding bits of peanut for a crunchy texture, add these now and hand mix the mixture so you keep the crunchy consistency.
Store in an airtight jar in a cool, dry place or keep refrigerated.
- The time you need to mix your Infused Peanut Butter in the food processor can depend on the strength of your machine! Go by sight and keep processing for 1 minute at a time until the texture looks smooth.
- If you like extra-salty peanut butter, by all means – add salt! It can be better to do this when you’ve tasted the final mixture, so that you don’t end up over-salting.
