It’s not always easy to tell which new “food fad” or diet trend will improve your health, especially when most claims aren’t supported by science. However, research indicates that adding medium-chain triglyceride (MCT) oil to your diet can boost your energy and assist in weight management.
The benefits of MCT oil can be enhanced even more by infusing it with your favorite herb or flower. LĒVO infusion machines make it easy to infuse botanicals into oil, resulting in a more flavorful and functional product. Keep reading to learn more about the health benefits of MCT oil and how you can use your LĒVO machine to transform this oil into something even more extraordinary.
What Is MCT Oil?
MCT, short for medium-chain triglycerides, are a type of fat derived from oils such as coconut and palm. MCT oil has become a popular supplement because its fat molecules are more easily absorbed by the liver than other sources of heart-healthy fats, meaning the body can convert MCT oil into energy faster.
Because MCT oil offers so many health benefits, we’ve introduced our own Premium MCT Infusion Oil, which has little to no taste or smell, making it ideal for drinks, gummies, dressings, and baked goods.
The Benefits of MCT Oil
Studies suggest that there are various health benefits of MCT oil. From gut health to weight loss, scientists are still looking at the potential advantages of these medium-chain fats. Here are some ways that adding MCT oil to your diet could positively impact your health and well-being.
Aiding Weight Loss
Some clinical studies indicate that MCT oil may aid in weight loss by increasing the release of two specific hormones that promote the feeling of fullness in the body. MCT oil also has about 10 percent fewer calories per serving than long-chain triglycerides found in olive oil, nuts, and avocados.
Additionally, consuming MCT oil can increase your ketones, chemicals produced when the body breaks down fat to use for energy. For individuals following a ketogenic diet, MCT oil can be an effective way to stay in the fat-burning state called ketosis while maintaining a low-carb diet.
Gut Health
The human body contains bacteria, viruses, and fungi that comprise the microbiome, which plays a significant part in an individual’s health. Recent studies show that the diverse microbiome in the intestinal tract can be essential in everything from a person’s weight to heart and brain health. MCT oil may help promote gut health by controlling bacterial and yeast overgrowth and rebalancing the diversity of the microorganisms in the gut.
Boosting Energy and Improving Athletic Endurance
Athletes and fitness enthusiasts are particularly drawn to MCT oil because research shows that MCTs can improve energy levels and endurance. During strenuous activity, lactate levels, an indirect marker of muscle fatigue, increase in the body. Consuming MCT oil may help reduce lactate buildup, which can boost athletic endurance and performance by suppressing lactate levels, allowing you to work your muscles longer.
Recipes to Try with Infused MCT Oil
While various recipes can benefit from adding MCT oil, one of our tried-and-true recipes are flavorful gummies. LĒVO infusion machines make it easy to infuse MCT oil, which gives gummies the perfect chewy texture and a glossy sheen. Gummies are also amazingly versatile because you can customize the flavors and sweetness to your taste.
Infused MCT oil is also great for making hard candy. You need only a few pantry staples, plus your MCT oil, to make delicious hard candy flavored to your liking. Add some cinnamon flavoring or even root beer for candy with a little more punch.
You can also add infused MCT oil in its natural state to drinks and dressings. Try putting a spoonful in your morning coffee with a bit of grass-fed butter, or add it to smoothies or matcha tea. Salads are another great way to get in a serving of infused MCT oil, as you can easily swap olive oil in dressings and vinaigrettes with infused MCT oil.

Hi, I make Body Butters. Is there a difference between regular Coconut oil (Solid) and MCT oil? If so, which is best to infuse my herbs with?

LEVO Oil Infusion, Inc. replied:
Regular coconut oil (solid) and MCT oil are both derived from coconuts but differ in composition. Regular coconut oil solidifies at room temperature and contains lauric acid, which gives it a thicker texture and some antimicrobial benefits. MCT oil, on the other hand, is liquid at room temperature and contains only medium-chain triglycerides, making it lighter and more easily absorbed by the skin.
For infusing herbs, regular coconut oil is better for thicker, more moisturizing body butters. MCT oil is ideal if you want a lighter, fast-absorbing product. Both work well, but the choice depends on the desired texture and absorption speed.
