The Perfect New York Cheesecake Recipe

What Makes a New York Cheesecake Different from Other Cheesecakes?
A New York cheesecake has a very dense texture in comparison to other cheesecakes. New York cheesecakes are made with heavy cream or sour cream, and this is the ingredient that causes the thicker texture. These two creams produce a slightly tart taste which is also a defining trait of a New York cheesecake.
Either heavy cream or sour cream will produce a more dense, rich texture. Sour cream is made of roughly 20% butterfat. Heavy cream is roughly 25-30% butterfat. Sour cream results in an acidic, tangy flavor while heavy cream tastes a bit sweeter. Sour cream is often used as a replacement for heavy cream. In fact, if you add lemon to heavy cream, it will taste similar to sour cream.
How Do I Prepare Infused Butter?

If you DO already have aLĒVO, then you probably already have some infused butter on hand. If not, it’s time to infuse again!
Making this cheesecake requires some basic ingredients. Make sure you have components for both the crust and the cream cheese filling before starting the recipe.
The Perfect New York Cheesecake Recipe
- 2 cups of graham cracker crumbs
- 2 tablespoons of sugar
1/2 cup of melted infused butter
- 24 ounces of softened cream cheese
- 1 cup of sugar
- ¼ cup of sour cream
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
- 3 eggs

Preheat the oven to 350°F.
- Mix together all crust ingredients (crumbs, sugar, and infused butter). Press into a 9″ springform pan.
- In a mixing bowl, beat cream cheese, sour cream, sugar, and vanilla until fluffy.
- Add eggs one at a time and mix thoroughly after each egg is added. Add a little bit of orange or lemon juice to firm up the filling mixture if the consistency is too thin.
- Pour the cream cheese filling on top of the crust.
- Bake for 35-45 minutes.
- Remove cheesecake from the oven.
- Cool for 10 minutes.
- Gently run a knife around the edge of the crust to loosen.
- Cool for another 45 minutes.
- Remove the springform pan and chill the cheesecake in the refrigerator for at least 3 hours.
New York Cheesecake is divine served plain, but you always have the option of adding warm caramel or chocolate syrup.
Using seasonal fruits and berries can add additional nutrients and vitamins to the cheesecake. You can also crush up your favorite candy bar and spread it on the top. This cheesecake recipe gives you a basic dessert that is consistently good and always ready to be garnished however you would like!
