Nothing says summer better than a fresh cup of lemonade. This sweet and tart drink can satisfy people of all ages all summer long.
Although the true origin is hard to pinpoint, many would say that lemonade first appeared in Egypt around 1000 AD, after lemons had made their way in from China. By the mid-1600s, vendors in France began to monopolize the beverage where it was sold from backpack tanks on the street—the first lemonade stands, if you will!
Lemons are actually considered a superfood and contain plenty of healthy properties, such as Vitamin C, B6, and A, as well as minerals and other beneficial compounds. They also contain flavonoids, which are helpful antioxidants that can assist your body in numerous ways.
While most store-bought lemonades are high in sugar, fresh lemonade is one of the most versatile drinks you can make from home. Our recipe combines fresh lemons with a touch of honey-ginger infusion to hit your sweet spot in the best type of way. Want to spice it up a little? Start by chopping up 1/3 cup of fresh ginger root into thin slices, and add it to the LEVO herb pod filling it approximately half way.
[Optional step for LEVO II owners]
If using fresh ginger root, we recommend removing excess moisture by utilizing the DRY cycle prior to infusing. To do this, place the packed herb pod inside the reservoir and do not add liquid at this step. Set the Dry mode to 105ºF for 1 hour, and press start. When the dry cycle is finished, wipe away any excess moisture from inside the reservoir before moving on to the next step.
With the reservoir and stirrer correctly installed inside the LEVO unit, place the herb pod inside the reservoir and pour in 1 cup of honey. Once the honey settles, make sure that the ginger inside of the herb pod is completely submerged with honey to get the most out of the infusion.
Adjust the Infuse cycle settings to 105°F for 2-4 hours, and press start. When the infusion is complete and while it is still warm, dispense it into a clean container for later user. Visit the LEVO Love Club private facebook group for specific suggestions.

Note about LĒVO's lemonade recipe with honey and ginger: If your honey infusion cools down while still inside the LEVO reservoir, the consistency will thicken up and make it hard to drain. In order to heat it back up to be easier to drain, set the infusion cycle to 105ºF for 30 minutes or so and try again.
