Tell us a little about yourself and your infusion journey!
Originally from Connecticut, I am a flower chef living in Philadelphia, PA specializing in delicious, healthy, infused foods and desserts. I got my start here in the medical industry, teaching flower infusion classes locally to medical patients and healthcare workers. I was able to expand to doing shows and sales in 2022, placing as an East Coast Top Infusion Chef in 2023 and 2024, under the name Elevated Baking.
What’s the first flower infusion you made, and how did it turn out?
My first flower infusion was in 1993 and involved a boyfriend in a band, a garbage bag of trim and 20 gallons of chili. Because we didn't have adequate access to flower, we would double infuse the butter by running two rounds of plant material through the same butter. An album titled "Dubbaduddah" was released in 1994 which celebrated our achievements.
Why do you love using LĒVO for flower infusions?
LĒVO is my favorite option for my flower infusions because of how clean and organized the process is made. Precise time and temperature is crucial to make effective and delicious infusions. Another important part of my love for the LĒVO machines is the ease of cleaning which saves time and energy for the rest of the process.
For someone brand new to flower infusions, what’s the best one to start with?
For someone brand new to flower I would recommend a mix of avocado and coconut oils for their health and broad range of applications in food.
Potency and dosage can be overwhelming for beginners — do you have any tips?
Before I infuse I find the % of my flower and then use 1 tablespoon of oil to one gram of flower to easily calculate the potency using the LĒVO Edibles Calculator.
What’s one common mistake beginners make with flower infusions, and how can they avoid it?
A common mistake is not grinding the flower fine enough before activation. With the LĒVO system, a finer grind will be the most effective for maximum absorption in the infusion process and still easy to filter at the finish.
LĒVO Tip: Many users find success by breaking up flower into pea-sized pieces before decarbing and infusing. This allows for even activation while preventing too many particles from slipping through the strainer. That said, results may vary depending on your method, strain, and infusion goals!
If you could describe your infusion style in three words, what would they be?
My infusion style is: healthy, accurate, delicious.
What inspires you to create infused recipes?
My inspiration for infusion is wellness and pain reduction. Dealing with chronic pain has taught me that infusing my healthy, regular foods is a key solution to feeling good and being healthy.
Can you tell us about the recipe you developed for this feature?
I will be sharing my Chocolate Swirl Banana Bread recipe because it is delicious and easy to infuse. The reason I developed this recipe is that I can adjust the sweetness as needed in this moist, natural flavored cake. It also stores well sliced in the freezer and pops back beautifully by just defrosting.
