Tell us a little about yourself and your journey with Seednest & She Grows At Home!
I’m Alicia Heber, founder of Seednest and the face behind She Grows at Home. I started growing flower at home in 2015, shortly after working in a commercial grow and getting my hands on a few seeds. I didn’t have much gardening experience, but I quickly fell in love with the process. It became a peaceful, grounding part of my routine, a way to slow down, connect with nature, and be more present in my day-to-day life.
I quickly realized how much home cultivation offers, especially when it comes to making your own infusions, edibles, or topicals. It’s empowering to work with flower you grew yourself and turn it into something useful and personalized.
I created Seednest to offer premium feminized seeds and help more people start growing with confidence. She Grows at Home grew from that same passion, becoming a space to share tips, insights, and real conversations about home growing, infusion, and building a more personal connection to the plant, especially for women who may not always see themselves reflected in this space.
How did you get into home growing and infusion?
After our first harvest, we were pleasantly surprised by how much flower and trim we ended up with. We had enough to last us through the spring, plus extra for experimenting. That Christmas, we made gifts for friends and family, jars of flower, homemade canna-fudge, tincture and healing salves.
Infusion felt like a natural extension of growing. I was already putting love and care into the plants, why not carry that into something I could cook with or use in my everyday life?
Why is homegrown flower special to you, and how does it impact your infusions?
Homegrown flower is deeply personal. You know exactly how it was grown, when it was harvested, and what went into it. That level of care carries over into the final product, whether you’re smoking it or turning it into an infusion.
It’s also more affordable, more flavorful, and more rewarding. You’re not just consuming flower, you’re building a connection with the plant. And for me, that makes the final infusion feel that much more meaningful.
How has LĒVO helped you refine your infusion process?
LĒVO’s sleek, quiet design makes infusing feel easy and seamless—it’s something I can do in the background without it taking over my whole space. One of my favorite features is the built-in filtration. Not having to strain out plant material by hand has been a game changer.
It keeps the process clean, simple, and way more enjoyable. The final product is smooth and ready to use, without all the extra mess or fuss I used to deal with.
What’s your favorite way to infuse homegrown flower with LĒVO?
Coconut oil is my go-to. It’s versatile, potent, and works for everything from edibles to topicals. I love using it in baking or even adding a little to coffee for a gentle daytime dose.
I also use olive oil for savory recipes and butter for classic baked goods. LĒVO makes it easy to switch between bases depending on what I’m in the mood to make.
Potency can be tricky! Do you have any tips for calculating infusion strength?
Before I started using LĒVO, I was mostly guessing—making a batch, testing it out, and hoping it wasn’t too strong (or too weak). Now, I use LĒVO’s potency calculator in the app all the time, and it’s been a game-changer for creating more consistent infusions.
I also primarily grow sun-grown flower, which I’ve found can lead to a broader terpene profile than some indoor grows. The natural light spectrum, airflow, and soil microbiome seem to bring out more of the plant’s complexity and I notice the difference in my infusions. The effects tend to feel richer, more well-rounded, and sometimes longer-lasting.
For beginners, I recommend starting small, around ¼ to ½ teaspoon, and slowly working up from there. With LĒVO, it’s easy to infuse in small batches and adjust as you go, which makes dialing in your perfect dose way less intimidating.
💡 Want even more control over potency? Pair your LĒVO with a tCheck Potency Tester to measure the strength of your infusions right at homeIf you could describe your infusion style in three words, what would they be?
Simple, Intentional, Full-Spectrum
I keep my process easy and manageable, with care behind each step. Using sun-grown flower, I focus on preserving the full-spectrum benefits to create infusions that feel balanced, effective, and aligned with the plant’s natural profile.
What inspires you to create infused recipes or products?
I’m inspired by a mix of creativity, wellness, and connection. I love taking something I grew and turning it into something that supports my body, helps me unwind, or just tastes amazing. There’s something really empowering about making your own medicine, or treats, from start to finish.
I also get inspired thinking about others who are just starting out. I know how overwhelming it can feel at first, so part of what drives me is showing that it doesn’t have to be complicated. Growing and infusing at home can be simple, nourishing, and fun.
What’s one thing you’d like others to know about your experience as a home grower and infusion expert?
You don’t need to have it all figured out to get started. I started growing and infusing with zero experience—and made plenty of mistakes along the way—but I learned by doing. Every grow, every batch, every experiment teaches you something.
Your first try won’t be perfect, and that’s okay. Just getting started is a win. The more you practice, the more confidence you’ll build. Growing and infusing at home is about progress, not perfection—and the process itself is incredibly rewarding.
Can you tell us about the recipe you developed for this feature?
Lemon bars have always been one of my favorite desserts, so I was inspired to create an elevated, infused version using flower from one of my favorite homegrown strains, Lemon Telescope, an autoflower we carry at Seednest.
I grew this plant last summer, and it quickly became a standout in the garden. It thrives in warm weather and delivers a bright, uplifting effect that captures the carefree vibe of summer with its crisp lemon aroma.
The buttery base of the lemon bars pairs perfectly with the citrus-forward notes of the strain, making it a delicious way to showcase what’s possible when you grow and infuse your own flower at home.
