This month, we talked to Chef Christopher Singh about his business, Islandboy Jerk Stop. Born in Jamaica, he grew up watching his Grandmother cook. It's become his major interest to learn how to make not just Jamaican food, but everything else.

We spoke with Islandboy Jerk Stop about how he got started, how LĒVO has impacted his process, and his inspiration for cooking and helping others.

Tell us a little bit about who you are and how Islandboy Jerk Stop came about.

I was born in Jamaica and moved to America when I was young. I am an island boy, that’s how the name came about. Because of the military, I’ve moved all over the world and learned about food from all cultures: Asian, Italian and French.

 

How did you get started with infused creations?

I wanted to add flavor to my dishes without changing the texture of my dish. What better way than to use infused oil.

 

How was your first experience with LĒVO?

It was great, I needed to make a pasta dish and I wanted a high intense flavor of basil. Basil as the base of the dish and basil leaves at the end. I infused Basil coconut oil and it was splendid.

 

How has your small business been impacted since starting to use LĒVO?

A positive impact, I now have more options of adding flavor without sacrificing texture.

How has LĒVO made your life easier? Are there any unexpected benefits you have experienced?

Easier yes, Infused all my oils now, no need to buy expensive blends when you can infuse your oils fresh every time at home.

 

What is your favorite “island-style” dish to make LĒVO infused?

I would say it's my Italian Meatballs and pasta sauce, filled with flavor and all made from scratch.

 

On Instagram you say your wife is your inspiration, we love to see that love! Does she ever inspire any #LEVOmade creations or join you in the LEVO infusion fun? If so, what is something you two like to create together?

Yes, my wife is my inspiration as she is my #1 taste tester. She often suggests the recipes I create and is my biggest critic. Together, we like to create Olive Oil Cake, infused with lavender and lemon.

 

Is there anything else that you would like to share?

I have a stunningly gorgeous and amazing wife Gina, and 2 sons and 1 daughter.

Through the Military I was stationed in Texas and learned all about BBQ. I’ve given 22 years now of total service. I started in Air Traffic Control in the Navy, now I’m a maintenance scheduler for F-16s for the Air Force. I believe everyone should serve a greater purpose other than themselves.
